I don't know if it works to be honest.  From what I have seen it does.  MetroPCS did put out a FOTA (Firmware OTA) update that does unroot it.  Just reroot and you should be fine.

Interesting.  I am not sure, we have had many many reports of it working fine, a few that say no but tried again and it worked.  We haven't had any that it just plain didn't work.  If you come up with any reasons why not, let us know!

Sound like you may not have unzipped all of the files.  Redownload it and unzip it again, that may fix it.

I am a new member. I am new to Android. Just purchased a Straight Talk LG Optimus Q. I tried to root the phone using Esteem one click root. I downloaded the the drivers first, the program said it installed them. But I don't think the computer is recognizing the the phone. When I go into the device manager under other devices it has a yellow exclamation point next to
CDC Ethernet control module
CDC serial
LG android usb device ( there is a total of 3 of these LG usb devices listed )
I am trying to root the phone on a 64bit windows 7 machine
I have also tried this on a 32bit Vista machine as well each machine gives the same
errors in the device manager. Can anyone please help
Thanks

I followed the instructions.  My phone is recognized in my network connections on my laptop, but it says that the ethernet cable is disconnected.  I have the USB connected.  What am I doing wrong???

The root worked for me! ^_^
I have an LG Optimus Slider and was informed the LG Esteem root would work for my device.
I installed the LG Mobile Update Tool because the LG Slider update drivers arent on LG's website.
I found the tool wasnt necessary to use becase my computer recognized my device upon initial connection.
s/n: The tool is still good to have on the computer in the event of future driver updates for your device.
I followed the directions for "LG Esteem OneClickRoot NOW READY!!" and its rooted.
I havent experimented with any ROMs yet because I'm still restoring apps from Titanium Backup.
Thanks so much for your help! ;)

YES, this works. I just got the LG Marquee for Boost Mobile and rooted it with NO problem at all. I don't even know much about computers and all that stuff but it was fairly easy.
